Balloons on Tour with Mighty River Power coming to a town near you
Communities in the greater Waikato region will get to enjoy visits from hot air balloons as part of the annual Balloons on Tour with Mighty River Power from 7.00am on Friday, April 15.
This year Balloons on Tour with Mighty River Power will visit Huntly, Ngaruawahia, Cambridge, Tokoroa, Mangakino and Turangi. The visual spectacle will be enhanced with some special balloons for each town, including Miss Daisy, Old MacDonald’s farmhouse, a bunch of tulips, a scarecrow, a coffee cup and an egg.
Mighty River Power General Manager External Affairs Neil Williams says the company is pleased to bring the spectacle and excitement that surrounds this event to some of the smaller towns in the Waikato.
“Mighty River Power has a strong commitment to the greater Waikato region with our hydro and geothermal plants located here and we are delighted to be able to bring the balloons to these communities. The event was a huge success with more than 12,000 people attending the festivities last year and we are expecting an even bigger turnout this year,” says Mr Williams.
Each town is planning special events to mark the balloon visits involving local councils, schools and the wider community.
Mighty River Power is also running a colouring competition giving school children the opportunity to win a tethered ride in a hot air balloon.
“We are pleased to be able to offer children this experience and look forward to a fun-filled day for all,” says Mr Williams.
Entry forms for the colouring competitions will be published in local newspapers and are also available on the Mighty River Power website www.mightyriverpower.co.nz
