Management reports still being considered by board

Management reports still being considered by board

Te Kaumaarua, the executive of Te Kauhanganui (the Waikato-Tainui tribal parliament) is still considering reports referred to by the media (Waikato Times 28 April, 2005).

Te Kaumaarua Chairman Kingi Porima said it was premature to make any comment about the reports, what they recommended, or what action the board would take as a result of those recommendations.

Mr Porima said he could confirm that the reports have highlighted some procedural and system weaknesses.

“The board commissioned these reports to identify these sorts of issues.

“We will now consider the reports’ findings and their recommendations, and take the appropriate actions,” Mr Porima said.

“I am particularly disappointed that internal reports that were only sent to board members a matter of days ago have already found their way to the media.

“The board takes any matters regarding the management of the tribe and stewardship of its assets extremely seriously. But it also needs the appropriate amount of time to consider issues that are raised before they are made public,” Mr Porima said.
