Convention & Incentive CEO Wins Global Award

Friday 13 May 2005

PRESS RELEASE

Convention & Incentive CEO Wins Global Award

New Zealand has gained further global convention and incentive acclaim at a time when the industry is riding an all time high.

At the industry equivalent of the ‘Oscars’ in Germany, Alan Trotter, CEO of Conventions & Incentives New Zealand (CINZ), was recently awarded an IMEX Academy Award further cementing New Zealand on the international convention and incentive map.

IMEX is one of the world’s leading international convention and incentive tradeshows and is held annually in Germany. Mr Trotter was one of a group of award winners and the presentation took place during the show’s glittering Gala Dinner at the Sheraton Frankfurt Hotel & Towers.

The award is designed to recognise and reward those who have made major contributions both to their destinations and the wider meetings and incentive travel industry. Described by Paul Flackett, Managing Director IMEX, as ‘a fierce advocate for New Zealand who has put New Zealand on the international map’ Mr Trotter was surprised and humbled by the award.

IMEX says the award acknowledges Mr Trotter’s tireless work, going beyond the call of duty to promote change, encourage high standards or simply to serve or represent the industry exceptionally well.

“The award has come at a time when New Zealand is moving very positively ahead in the international C & I market and the industry is running at an all time high. Convention arrivals are increasing 20 percent year on year and this upward trend doesn’t look like slowing down,” Mr Trotter says.

“This award further cements New Zealand as a top C & I destination and recognises the hard work the industry as a whole has put into raising the industry profile.”
