Tucson rated top quality
Hyundai Tucson has been confirmed as the world’s highest quality small SUV.
The spunky soft-roader has taken top place in the world’s recognised leading measure of new vehicle owner satisfaction, the 2005 Total Quality Index just out from US research house Strategic Vision.
The firm polled more than 40,000 buyers of 2005 models last October and November to find the Tucson best-rated for quality.
It confirms the popularity of the smallest of three Hyundai SUV models, launched late last year but only now becoming readily available after unprecedented demand from Kiwi buyers.
“It’s great news for Tucson and Hyundai,” commented the General Manager of Hyundai Automotive NZ, Philip Eustace.
“Strategic Vision is the pulse-taker respected in the motor industry worldwide.
“This is an ultimate accolade for Tucson in its first year on the market and reinforces the Hyundai name for quality and reliability, as well as value for money.
“Here in New Zealand it’s more good news after our Getz was the nation’s top-selling little car last year, and just ahead of our launch of the brilliant new Sonata mid-size sedan on the 1st June,” Mr Eustace said.
Strategic Vision has calculated the Total Quality Index annually since 1995.
“We gather comprehensive data that reflects the breadth and depth of the ownership experience, including emotions,” explained Strategic Vision president Dr. Darrel Edwards.
“The information is used to calculate ‘Total Quality’ indices. These integrated relationships between attributes and emotions mirror how people respond to their new vehicle.
“Those product and performance characteristics that deliver more desired emotions more strongly impact the perception of Total Quality,” he said.
