Eleven Second Division Wins Spread Across New Zealand

Eleven lucky Lotto tickets sold in Auckland, Blenheim, Napier, Tauranga and Wellington have won Second Division prizes of $28,120 each after Saturday night's draw, New Zealand Lotteries Commission Chief Executive Trevor Hall said today.

"This fantastic prize is the result of one of the changes made to the Lotto game last year. Second Division winners now win about five times more than under the old prize structure, from an average of $4,000 to an average of $20,000," said Mr Hall.

Five Second Division prizes went tickets sold to Auckland, three to Wellington and one to Blenheim, Napier and Tauranga respectively.

Lisa-Marie Gibson from Countdown Blenheim, where a winning ticket was sold, said it was wonderful for the store to have sold a winning ticket.

"We are really happy about it! The winner was so close, being only one number off the first division."

Wellington's hat-trick of winning tickets were sold at Molesworth Hardware in Thorndon, Books & More Upper Hutt and Countdown Upper Hutt.

Molesworth Hardware's Wayne Plummer said it's great to have sold a big prize.

"Prizes seem to be clustering in the Thorndon area. We have sold quite a number of Second Divisions now, and we would love a First Division."

Auckland stores that sold winning tickets were Elite Stationery & Lotto, Massey Pharmacy, Mid City Lotto, Magascene, and Glen Eden Colour Centre and Lotto. The player who bought their ticket from Elite Stationery & Lotto won Powerball Division Two as well, taking home an extra $39,168, giving them a total of $67,288 in prize money.

Two other stores that sold winning Second Division tickets in the Saturday, 21 May draw were Napier City Pak'n Save, and Bethlehem 4 Square in Tauranga.

The first division prize winning ticket of $1,059,640 from Saturday's draw was sold by Bayfair Lotto Kiosk in Mount Maunganui and has been claimed.
