Fert Research appoints Technical Manager

Greg Sneath has been appointed Technical Manager at fertiliser industry body, Fert Research.

Greg joins the Fert Research office with an extensive background in Horticultural Advisory services in Australia followed by technical growing medium roles in New Zealand.

Greg was employed for seven years as a Technical Manager, Growing Media Division for Yates New Zealand Ltd and was also Chairman of the New Zealand Potting Mix Manufacturers’ Federation at that time. In Australia he gained an honours degree in Agricultural Science from the University of Queensland, and was employed by the New South Wales Department of Agriculture as a Horticultural Advisory/Extension Officer.

Greg’s experience in these roles has seen him involved in a variety of technical aspects of horticulture and agriculture, in particular collaboration and communication with a wide range of research professionals, farmers and industry bodies.

Greg says his appointment as Technical Manager of Fert Research is an opportunity for him to work closely with important groups in the New Zealand agricultural sector.

“This is a very important role for bridging gaps between different groups in the rural sector; to work with researchers, disseminate research results and work actively with Regional Councils on sustainable nutrient management.”

Key aspects of the Technical Manager role at Fert Research include the administration of the research portfolio, working closely with Regional Councils and primary industry groups, formulating technical reports, maintaining the Code of Practice for Fertiliser Use and developing educational material.
