The IPENZ Foundation Award for Excellence in Engineering Journalism

Journalists who have written articles improving the publics understanding of the role of engineering in society could win a cash prize of $5000.00.

The IPENZ Foundation Award for Excellence in Engineering Journalism will be awarded at the 2005 inaugural New Zealand Engineering Excellence Awards, which will become an annual event. Entries close 5pm Friday 1 July 2005.
The IPENZ Foundation Award for Excellence in Engineering Journalism (sponsored by the IPENZ Foundation) is awarded to the journalist/media writer who has most improved the public understanding of the role of engineering in society through positive, fair and accurate writing. The Award is open to writers for the print media, radio and television, who meet the following criteria:
* The Award is limited to stories from the general (non-trade) media in New Zealand
* The story/programme must have appeared between 1 May 2004 and 30 April 2005
* A single story/programme or a series is eligible

The New Zealand Engineering Excellence Awards is an event supported by the engineering profession as a whole, and intended to bring to the attention of the wider community the key roles that engineers and their organisations have played in addressing national goals through innovation, entrepreneurship and development of infrastructure that meets community needs.
