InterCity Adds Extra Services for Lions Tour
InterCity Coachlines added 4 extra services to Rotorua on Friday night to meet demand from Lions fans heading to the Bay.
“InterCity & Newmans Coach Lines will add as many extra services as necessary to make sure the Lions fans make the game on time, no matter where it is,” said Malcolm Johns, CEO for the InterCity Group.
“With 120 services a day to 600 towns and cities across New Zealand, InterCity's network covers every game venue and we will continue to ensure that visitors enjoy New Zealand’s most extensive public transport network. We added extra services last weekend to carry fans from Auckland the Rotorua for the Lions / Bay game, and are committed to continuing to do so on both North and South Islands during the weeks ahead - based on last week end, we expect demand to be high as the tour moves around New Zealand”, continued Johns.
“Over the last 3 weeks we have seen a definite upsurge in sales activities compared to this time last year, especially our pass products which provide excellent value for money. We thought we would see an impact from the Lions tour however it has been earlier than expected and as a result we are very pleased”, said Johns.
Services for the Lions NZ Maori match at Waikato Stadium next Saturday, 11 June, will leave Sky City in Auckland from and from most rural centres in the region. Services to Hamilton from other North Island centres are showing strong early sales and we expect to add extra capacity today.
