Free Hyundai care for older vehicles
Car dealers look after customers who buy new cars … but what about when the car gets older?
Hyundai has now enhanced its fast-growing reputation for quality and service with a comprehensive, free service clinic at six of their main dealers throughout New Zealand.
Owners of Hyundai vehicles from between three to eight years old had the opportunity to have their cars fully checked over by Hyundai factory technicians.
Hundreds have already taken advantage of the scheme … so many that Hyundai has been stretched to cope and has scheduled clinics Monday to Saturday.
“We expected the programme to be popular, but the response almost overwhelmed us,” said the National Service Manager of Hyundai Automotive New Zealand, Peter Tolley.
“We’ve had to hastily schedule extra days for the checks, and roster more staff.”
The comprehensive service checks, which examine all aspects of the vehicle, are carried out by a visiting Hyundai Motor Company technician from South Korea, one from Hyundai New Zealand travelling the country, and a couple from the local dealership.
At this stage six main-centre dealers are involved and Hyundai has plans to roll out the service clinics more widely.
The vehicle owner simply makes an appointment to bring their vehicle to the dealership for the check, which takes about 30 minutes. They need not be the original owner of the vehicle: many of the cars have been bought second-hand.
“We went to some lengths to track the owners of all Hyundai vehicles between three and eight years old, and wrote to them all,” Mr Tolley said.
“The response was instant and very favourable.”
The service check delves under the bonnet, under the body and includes a road test, concluding in a written report which gives the owner an accurate snapshot of the vehicle’s overall condition.
As well as familiar warrant of fitness items like lights and brakes, the factory check also looks at such things as engine fluids (topping up free if they’re low) and any leaks, filter elements, hoses and belts, all suspension components, clutch operation, air conditioning output and the handling of the vehicle on-road. It even checks out rattles and squeaks.
“This check meets a real need, especially as the majority of drivers nowadays are not familiar with modern car technology,” commented Mr Tolley
“Many people are not sure exactly the state of these cars which have a few years under their belt.”
In an additional touch, each owner also receives a free car-care pack of Mothers polishes.
Owners who have not being contacted can register for a check by contacting their local Hyundai dealer.
