Here’s to the engineers
New levels of cabin comfort on Air New Zealand’s long-haul Boeing 747s are a testimony to the skill and hard work of New Zealand engineers, says their union.
Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union national secretary Andrew Little said he was proud to be at today’s unveiling of Air New Zealand’s refitted Boeing 747-600s, featuring lie-flat beds and digital in-flight entertainment at every seat.
“Our members have worked on this project for two years,” he said.
“It is their skill and dedication that has made this happen, and will help the airline to compete in the global international air travel market.”
Mr Little, who stands 1.85m, said that he particularly appreciated the extra leg-room provided in economy seats.
“It means that ordinary travellers will enjoy the comforts previously reserved for those who could afford to fly business class,” he said.
