Ihug Offers Better Value Broadband For Businesses
ihug today launched its new one and two megabit (Mb) broadband Internet for businesses, offering four different plans with larger data allowances and significantly cheaper excess fees than Xtra’s new plans. New customers are also given a free modem and free connection, saving them $198.95.
ihug’s general manager of networks David Diprose says ihug is pleased to finally be able to provide businesses with 1Mb and 2Mb plans at more affordable prices, coinciding with the launch of Telecom’s new wholesale broadband offering.
“There is a huge demand from businesses for fast download speeds at more affordable prices and it’s great to finally be able to offer this to our customers. However, it’s disappointing that the upload speed hasn’t increased and that’s something that we’ll continue to push for so that businesses can take full advantage of the benefits of broadband.”
Diprose says ihug is looking forward to being able to offer businesses further broadband savings once the Commerce Commission’s bitstream determination is finalised.
The new ihug plans feature larger data allowances and an additional 2Mb plan compared to Xtra’s plans. ihug also gives businesses better terms when they exceed their data allowance – customers can choose to have their connection speed reduced to 64kbps (compared to Xtra’s 56kbps) or to be charged excess fees of $5 plus gst per gigabyte (compared to Xtra’s $45 plus gst per gigabyte).
All ihug’s business broadband plans come with five free email addresses, 10 MB of web space, virus and spam filtering, static IP address and technical support.
