Ihug Announces New Chief Executive Officer

ihug today announced the appointment of former Telecom mobile marketing manager, Mark Rushworth, as its new chief executive officer (CEO).

Mr. Rushworth will be responsible for enhancing ihug's reputation as an innovator by driving the strategy behind new products while ensuring a consistently high level of customer service.

“We're committed to providing better products, particularly in broadband and telephony, and to lifting the quality of service for ihug customers,” said Michael Malone, managing director of the iiNet Ltd Group, ihug’s parent company. “Mark brings a wealth of experience in both the telecommunications and customer service areas and will be a great complement to the ihug team.”

Mr Rushworth says he is looking forward to taking on the role of CEO from August 1.

“This is a really exciting time to join the company. We are already delivering a competitive choice for Kiwis but there is so much more an improved regulatory environment would allow. I look forward to being a part of that future.”

Rushworth’s previous role was group operations manager for Aquiline Holdings Ltd (AHL), a privately-owned management and investment company, with an annual turnover of $200m and over 350 staff.

He has a masters degree in management (engineering) from Canterbury University and over seven years experience in the telecommunications industry, having worked for Telecom in various management roles between 1996 and 2002.
