Community Groups Urged To Get Funding Applications In

Local community groups and organisations only have two weeks left to apply for a grant in the 2005 SKYCITY Queenstown Casino Community Trust funding round. Applications close 5 pm on Friday 29 July.

Trustee Jim Ryan says the Trust focuses on projects that contribute to community health and education, tourism, art and culture.

“We’re looking for projects that will make a tangible, positive difference to Queenstown and the wider region.”

Mr Ryan says applications of all size are welcomed – large and small. Last year’s Trust grants ranged in size from $400 to provide exercise classes for the elderly at Frankton Village Gym, to $17,000 for a training mannequin for St John’s Wakatipu.

Other highlights included the purchase of a new glucose monitoring system for Southern Lakes Diabetes Youth, an upgrade of the ‘family corner’ at the Arrowtown Community Preschool and support for the 2005 Queenstown Winter Festival.

Over the last two years the SKYCITY Queenstown Casino Community Trust has distributed $300,000 to organisations and community groups in the Queenstown Lakes District Council area.

For an application form and more information check out www.skycityqueenstown.co.nz or call SKYCITY Queenstown Casino on (03) 441 0400.

Applications can be completed online, posted to PO Box 1242, Queenstown, or delivered to SKYCITY Queenstown Casino, 16-24 Beach Street, Queenstown.
