Bank of New Zealand Appoints Two New Directors
Bank of New Zealand today announced the appointment of two new directors to its board. They are Dr Susan Macken and Ms Janine Smith, both of Auckland.
The Chairman of the Board, Kerry McDonald said Dr Macken and Ms Smith bring a wealth of experience and very considerable capability to the Board.
Dr Macken, who has a PhD in economics from Cambridge University, has worked at the World Bank as an economist and she has extensive experience in senior management roles in the Fletcher Group of companies. She was Managing Director of Wrightson Bloodstock and general manager of OTC, part of the Blue Star Group. She is currently a director of Southern Cross and Fertility Associates, and was previously a director of Hutt Valley Health, the New Zealand Trade Development Board, and the New Zealand Racing Industry Board.
Ms Smith, a graduate of the University of Auckland in Commerce, has extensive experience in senior management roles, including with Goodman Fielder Wattie and Telecom Directories. She had a leading role in the establishment of Telecom’s on-line products, most notably Xtra, and managed Arnott’s New Zealand through the significant changes following the integration with its Australian parent.
Ms Smith is currently the deputy chairperson of Airways Corporation and a director of Transmission Holdings. She is a trustee of Venture Taranaki Trust, and a principal of The Boardroom Practice Ltd.
