Free sailing with the kids this summer

Take the kids overseas this summer and P&O Cruises will pick up the tab under its new “Kids Sail Free” offer.

The deal offers savings of more than $3,000 per family on cruises to the South Pacific from Auckland on Pacific Sky.

The “Kids Sail Free” special fares apply to certain family cruises and include:

- $5,432 for a family of four on a 10-night Christmas cruise to Tonga and Fiji on Pacific Sky, departing Auckland on December 17, 2005*.

- $5,170 for a family of four on a 10-night cruise to Vanuatu, Loyalty Islands and New Caledonia on Pacific Sky, departing Auckland on January 8, 2006*.

- $4,754 for a family of four on a 10-night cruise from Auckland to Melbourne on Pacific Sky, visiting Picton, Christchurch, Dunedin, Milford Sound and Tasmania, departing January 18, 2006*.

Under the deal, kids enjoy free food, entertainment and accommodation on the cruise when travelling in the same cabin with two adults.

Launching the “Kids Sail Free” packages, P&O Cruises New Zealand Manager Shannon Currie described cruising as the ultimate family holiday offering loads of fun for passengers of all ages.

Only children with unlimited energy can tackle the long list of shipboard activities on offer in the supervised kids’ clubs. These include dance parties, dress-ups, painting, craft, games, toys, quizzes, talent shows, movies day and night, theme shows and water-based thrills in the pools and whirlpool spas.

Meanwhile parents can test their skills at pool volleyball, learn the latest dance craze or simply relax with a cocktail and a book.

“Everyone has a great time on board, whether enjoying all the activities on offer or just simply relaxing by the pool. Then when the ship arrives at its destination the whole family can enjoy the day ashore discovering the native culture, snorkelling or swimming in turquoise lagoons in tropical ports and islands throughout the South Pacific,” Mr Currie said.

“The best part is that all these tropical ports come to you, parents only have to unpack once – and a free valet laundry service for the clothes of kids (aged under 12) means the entire family can unwind!”

Fares include all main meals, activities and entertainment. Flight and hotel deals are also available.
