Bank of New Zealand Sponsors New Zealand Commonwealth Games Team
Bank of New Zealand has today announced its sponsorship role as a Principal Partner of the New Zealand Commonwealth Games team for Melbourne 2006*.
Bank of New Zealand Managing Director Peter Thodey says that the Commonwealth Games team sponsorship represents an exciting opportunity for the Bank to support New Zealand’s elite athletes.
“Bank of New Zealand and its community of staff and customers can take great pride in supporting our athletes in pursuit of sporting excellence at the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne in March 2006.
“Bank of New Zealand has become known as the “unbeatable” bank, and we will be doing all we can to help the athletes in the New Zealand team for Melbourne be unbeatable too.”
Mr Thodey says that the Bank is close to announcing the identities of Bank of New Zealand’s Commonwealth Games Ambassadors, some of whom will be amongst the country’s best-performed and well-known athletes.
“The Ambassadors will be involved in a range of activities designed to raise awareness of Bank of New Zealand’s partnership and support for the New Zealand Commonwealth Games Team.
“From now until the commencement of the Games, only eight months away, Bank of New Zealand will be launching innovative consumer products and competitions as well as looking at ways to involve our staff in fundraising activities to help support the New Zealand Commonwealth Games team”
Secretary-General of the New Zealand Olympic Committee, Barry Maister, welcomed Bank of New Zealand as a sponsor.
“I am thrilled to have Bank of New Zealand on-board, renewing a relationship that began more than 30 years ago with the sponsorship of the team for the 1974 Commonwealth Games, held in Christchurch.”
