Rare Opportunity to Buy Sports Field

29 July 2005

Rare Opportunity to Buy Sports Field

In one of those unique situations, property buyers and developers keen on the prestigious Roslyn/Maori Hill area of Dunedin have a rare opportunity to purchase a one acre (around 4000 sqm) sports field as a site for residential property.

The sports field on 383 Highgate has been owned by Otago Girls’ High School since around 1923 and is now surplus to requirements with a commercial decision having been made to sell it.

Harcourts Dunedin Sales Consultant, Robin Greer who is marketing the property, said that the land was exceptional. “Residential land to build on is really quite a rare commodity in this area, and something of this size is unheard of.”

He noted that the size of the section offered a number of options to potential buyers.

Mr Greer has already experienced early buying interest since the ‘for sale’ sign went up last Friday. “I expect the main interest will come from residential developers, or someone looking to build a special home and perhaps on-sell or develop the remaining land.”

“Buyers could come from anywhere with more and more property being sold to out-of-towners and ‘ex-pats’. This really is a unique opportunity and I don’t expect to see something of this size on Highgate available again.”

383 Highgate is being offered for sale by Tender which closes 4pm Friday 26 August 2005.
