AMI Insurance Recognised As Industry Leader

AMI Insurance, the largest wholly New Zealand owned fire and general insurer, has been recognised with the ‘Services to the Community Award’ at the 2005 Australian and New Zealand Insurance Industry Awards in Sydney.

AMI’s commitment to the community covers a broad range of arts, sports and scientific activities including the Christchurch Symphony, Parents Inc., 17 Rugby Referee Associations and the Malaghan Institute of Medical Research. Through their 69 branches nationwide, AMI also supports numerous community groups such as local sports teams and charitable organisations.

The panel of international judges was impressed by the company’s commitment to the community and their belief that value is returned to customers and the public alike through a broad spectrum of community initiatives.

“It’s a key facet of being a mutual company that we support the communities that support us and in doing so we acknowledge the loyalty of our policyholders” says John Balmforth, Chief Executive, AMI Insurance. “Our staff live in these communities and have a personal commitment to the success of the sponsorships” says Mr Balmforth.

“It involves taking our customer care strategy beyond our day to day insurance activities and into the life of the community. It’s ‘another reason why people stay with AMI” says Mr Balmforth.
