ALAC’s alcohol abuse awareness newspaper ad is the NAB’s July Ad of Month Winner. The ad was created by Clemenger, Wellington.
After much deliberation, the July Ad of Month came down to 3 pieces of work. BMWX3 which remained on the table for its use of a triangular space (bought as columns instead of the usual quarter page with fake copy), was felt to be worthy for good use of media. Nicepople.com (‘F’ word is fudge) was also a striking ad. The ALAC ad (1 in 4 women can’t remember what they did last night) was simple and graphically strong and was judged the overall winner. All present agreed creative delivery within the newspaper medium requires more thought and attention.
July judges included Matt Simpkins, McCann Erickson; James Blackwood, Blackwood King Adpartners; and Jeremy Irwin, ANZA.
The winning ad will be sponsored into 2006 Axis Awards, and the winning creative team, Jamie Standen and Mark Forgan, will receive Ticketek vouchers to see a show or concert of their choice.
The ad will also appear in the “What’s New” section of August AdMedia. Advertisers, agencies and member newspapers are encouraged to nominate newspaper ads. All newspaper ads booked through the NAB are eligible to win Ad of Month.
