Auckland Property Squashed By Apple

Apple’s mighty “iPod” has knocked “Auckland” from the top of the 20 most searched for items on Trade Me in August.

The MP3 player topped the charts with 45,423 searches in August, bumping Auckland rental property searches down to second place. Property searches have surged since the launch of Trade Me Property two months ago.

Local designer Karen Walker continues to do battle with global fashion labels, overtaking Roxy but coming in just behind Playboy Clothing as the fifth most searched for item in New Zealand.

Making its debut was Sony’s new Play Station Portable (PSP) which was only officially launched in New Zealand last week. The full list of the top 20 search items for August is listed below.

The latest Neilsen//NetRatings figures show Trade Me had over 1.9 million unique visitors in August. It has over 1.2 million New Zealand members and more than 475,000 current listings.
