Harcourts Raised $450,000 For Ill Children
The Harcourts House Party last night broke all previous
records, raising almost $450,000.
Thousands of South Islanders rallied for this massive fundraiser yesterday. This combination online auction and live television extravaganza screened across the South Island from 2.00pm yesterday (Sunday 11th September). The hammer went down on the final auction item at 6.00pm selling the Harcourts Horncastle Home for $ 376,000.
Event Managers, the Rotary Club of Christchurch Sunrise said they were thrilled with the response, the culmination of more than a years work. ‘We knew we were part of a great community, but they’ve outdone themselves this time. This result exceeds our wildest dreams and just goes to show the depth of caring here in the South Island’, said Rotary spokesman Brent Goldsmid.
While some expenses are yet to be deducted from the total the majority of the events costs had already been covered by through the sponsorship of Harcourts South Island, he said. ‘We extend our sincerest thanks to everyone involved and in particular to the event sponsors: Harcourts South Island, Horncastle Homes, CTV, Telecom, The Press, Classic Hits, Newstalk ZB, and Novo Brand Management, and Rotary Clubs throughout the South Island.’
Funds raised at the Harcourts House Party will be donated to Ronald McDonald House South Island to help provide accommodation and support for the South Island families of seriously ill children.
