Last Day Of Five Day Health Strike Proceeds
He was commenting on the NUPE meeting at which delegates had received a report on the discrepancies between statements from the CDHB about 1.7% funding and from Labour Government Minister Ruth Dyson that 7.3% extra had been made available of which $44m was available to CDHB for pay claims.
“One of the delegates had received a helpful email from Ruth Dyson clarifying the facts around funding,” said Martin Cooney. (Email attached.)
“The five day strike was only called to get the Government to provide more funding than the 1.7% said to be available to settle with support staff like clerical, cleaners, maintenance and information services staff,” said Martin Cooney.
“Delegates will march from Christchurch Hospital to CDHB HQ (Luney House) tomorrow at midday. They have invited a Board spokesperson to address them and hope this time that the opportunity will be taken up.” said Martin Cooney.
