CHH workers stop work

A week of stop-work meetings by Carter Holt Harvey workers around the country will come to a head in Auckland tomorrow.

Hundreds of members of the Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union and the National Distribution Union will gather at Ericsson Stadium at 10am in the last of a series of nationwide meetings to plan the next step in their Five-Plus wages campaign.

The day will begin at 7am in Whangarei, where a similar stop-work meeting will be held.

EPMU national secretary Andrew Little that both meetings were expected to endorse the decision of meetings in other parts of the country to offer moral and financial support to CHH workers taking protest action.

“This is a company-wide stand,” he said.

“Carter Holt Harvey workers are standing together, no matter what plant they work at or which union they belong to.”

The Auckland meeting will be held the Club Lounge, East Stand, Ericsson Stadium, Maurice Rd, Penrose, Auckland, at 10am.

The Whangarei meeting will be held at the Takihiwai Rugby League Club, One Tree Point, at 7am. Each meeting is expected to last one hour.
