Growth in Interislander’s
fleet leads to large growth in onboard staff
Twenty nine new staff are undergoing intensive induction and training programmes after being recruited as cabin attendants and cooks for the Interislander’s fleet this week.
The new staff began their Fire & Emergency Training Solutions (FETES) six day course on Sunday and will also complete a 2 day AWESOME Customer Services Course and food safety training programme next week to ensure they are up to speed with current maritime and health and safety requirements.
Interislander Passenger Services Delivery Manager, Ray Wolff says that the training will be invaluable in providing the important information and knowledge needed for working across the fleet.
“The new staff will be learning absolutely everything they need to know, from fire fighting, first aid and survival, hazard and crowd control, food safety and host responsibility. With their varied backgrounds, they are going to be a great asset to us and we’re really excited by their enthusiasm and commitment so far”
The arrival of Interislander’s Kaitaki in August has led to the need for more crew across the Arahura, Aratere and Kaitaki. A further 25 onboard services staff are expected to be recruited over the next month.
