ODT printers reject offer
Printers at the Otago Daily Times have rejected a pay offer from the paper’s owner and are now considering their next move.
Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union national secretary Andrew Little said that the offer had been rejected at meetings held last night and this morning.
Journalists at the Dunedin morning paper had rejected the same offer, and have put the company on notice of industrial action.
Mr Little said that both groups had been offered a two-year agreement, with the option of a four per cent pay rise this year and a three or four per cent rise (depending on the level of inflation) next year, or a five per cent pay rise now, with another two per cent in 15 months’ time.
“The printers will meet again this week to decide their next move,” he said.
The ODT is owned by Allied Press.
