Striking CHH workers to return to work
Two hundred workers from the Carter Holt Harvey laminated veneer plant in Whangarei are to return to work in preparation for new talks next week.
Engineering, Printing and Manufacturing Union national secretary Andrew Little said that the workers had voted overwhelmingly today to end their three-week strike.
“We have talks with representatives of the Rank Group scheduled for Monday, and all workers will be back at work by then,” he said.
The workers walked off the job on September 23 in protest over the failure to settle their collective employment agreement.
Mr Little said that boiler and maintenance workers would return to work at 7am tomorrow, with a full return by Monday morning.
The talks will be held in Whangarei.
