The Big Day Out will have a new flavour in 2006 with Lion Red taking over as the "official beer" of the event for the first time ever!

"Lion Red is synonymous with partying and good times, making it the perfect match for this high-energy occasion that brings out thousands of music fans every year," says Lion Red Marketing Manager, Danny Phillips.

Big Day Out fans will be able to enjoy a cold Lion Red to the sounds of rock icons The White Stripes and Scottish new age rockers Franz Ferdinand, not to mention the many top local artists and other great international acts playing at the 2006 gig.

Big Day Out Auckland Promoter, Campbell Smith said, "We are very pleased to have Lion Red on board for the Big Day Out, it's a great beer, a great brand and a perfect fit for our event."

This is the first time Lion Red has been a sponsor of the Big Day Out, and they plan to go ALL OUT for the 2006 event.

They are introducing new and exciting Lion Red service areas where punters can have a beer and chill in between acts, as well as hosting some fantastic activities guaranteed to entertain crowds and add to the great party atmosphere.

To tie in with the Big Day Out sponsorship, Lion Red has launched their massive "Amp it Up" Summer Music Supplies on pack promotion.
