Ever wondered what fuels some of our favourite sporting icons? This question and more are answered in Fit Food for Winners a new cookbook from the Millennium Institute of Sport & Health and Nestlé New Zealand.
Fit Food for Winners will be officially launched at the Millennium Institute of Sport & Health at 11am today.
Forty of its 86 recipes have been contributed by some of New Zealand’s leading sports stars including Hamish Carter, Ben Fouhy, Caroline and Georgina Evers-Swindell, four Silver Ferns and Barbara Kendall, to name just a few.
Mike Stanley, Chief Executive of the Millennium Institute of Sport & Health says the book aims to deliver a message that an athlete’s special nutritional requirements can be achieved with delicious, enjoyable food.
“We are proud of this tremendous book that will benefit a number of people with an interest in sport or simply in healthy eating and nutrition. Healthy eating plays a vital part in performing well and we hope that New Zealanders will be inspired by the recipes.”
Fit Food for Winners contains a wide range of recipes including easy to prepare snacks, lunches, main meals and even desserts. It also includes some great nutritional advice including how to prepare for sports competition, meal planning and much more. Every recipe has a nutritional analysis detailing the carbohydrate, protein and fat rating of each dish.
Fit Food for Winners is available for $19.95 from the magazine section of selected book stores and supermarkets from November 14th. It can also be purchased online at the Millennium Institute of Sport & Health’s website: www.mish.org.nz from today.
