Foodstuffs scoops gold in Asia-Pacific retail awards

Foodstuffs (NZ) Ltd, owner of the New World, PAK’nSAVE, Write Price and Four Square brands was awarded top New Zealand retail organisation and listed among the top five retailers in the Asia-Pacific region at an awards ceremony in Beijing.

Wholly New Zealand owned and operated, Foodstuffs scooped a gold award as one of the top 500 retailers in the Asia/Pacific region as well as being named top New Zealand retail organisation for the second year in row.

The Top 500 retailer awards recognise the “Best of the Best” retailers in the region and were presented by Retail Asia Publishing (organiser), Euromonitor International (official information provider) and KPMG (principal Programme partner).

Managing director of Foodstuffs (NZ) Limited, Tony Carter, says this cements the company’s place as one of New Zealand’s top retail organisations.

“Winning two years in a row is a huge achievement and one that all our staff can be immensely proud of.”

The Retail Asia Pacific Top 500 awards were launched in October 2004 as the leading awards for top retail companies in 14 economies throughout Asia-Pacific – Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam.

When judging the “Best of the Best” a set of qualitative and quantitative criteria is followed including CRM (excellence in customer service, merchandising offerings, store operations and marketing communications), management and operations infrastructure and process (technology, human resources and corporate culture) and record of operations. The awards were judged by an independent panel.
