Fairfax and Atex have announced an agreement to upgrade Fairfax New Zealand’s newspaper and magazine publishing sites to the latest versions of Atex Editorial, Advertising and Web solutions.

``This decision will be welcomed by our clients and in newsrooms and advertising departments around the country. Fairfax will move to a new generation of equipment and position itself to capitalise on its content strengths and the expertise of its people in taking up emerging opportunities in publishing.

``In Atex we have a supplier which is the market leader and very responsive to our ongoing requirements.”

Joan Withers said that project teams would be set up across Fairfax NZ to implement the system change, under the overall chairmanship of Chief Operating Officer Peter O’Hara. The projects will be managed by Fairfax NZ Group Operations Manager Nigel Bailey.

The Dominion Post in Wellington will be the first site for the technology upgrade. Other sites across New Zealand will follow during a six-year programme.
