Don Huse Elected to Aci Pacific Board

Auckland Airport CEO, Don Huse, has been elected as a member of the ACI Pacific regional board at the ACI World Pacific conference currently underway in Auckland.

ACI, or Airports Council International, is the international association of the world’s airports with 569 members operating over 1,640 airports in 177 countries and territories. The Pacific region has 64 members representing 190 airports around the Pacific.

Huse says that his election to the regional board is an opportunity to deepen Auckland Airport’s relationship with other airports in the region, “Having a representative from New Zealand on the ACI Pacific board will enhance the flow of shared information and experiences, which will benefit our country’s tourism and trade sectors.”

Brief biography of Don Huse

Don Huse was appointed chief executive officer of Auckland International Airport Limited in July 2003.

He was chief financial officer of Sydney Airports Corporation Limited from December 1998 to June 2003. His responsibilities included financial control; treasury; corporate planning and strategy; airport economics; and information technology. Sydney Airport was privatised in June 2002. Don was chief executive of Wellington International Airport Limited from 1991, following its corporatisation, until it was privatised in 1998.

In 1990, the Government appointed Don to the Hutt Valley Energy Board. He subsequently became an independent director of TransAlta New Zealand Limited, a listed electricity generating and energy retailing company. He chaired the board’s Audit and Risk Committee. He retired as a director in 1999 on relocating to Sydney.

His earlier career included chief executive and financial management roles in the Cable Price Downer and Steel and Tube Groups, diversified industrial companies listed on the New Zealand Stock Exchange. He has also worked in chartered accounting and financial services in New Zealand and in the United Kingdom. Don is a chartered accountant and holds a degree in economics from Victoria University of Wellington. He is a member of both the Australian and New Zealand Institutes of Company Directors.

Don is married (wife Margie) with two adult sons.
