CIAL appoints Chief Executive
Christchurch International Airport Limited (CIAL) Chairman, Syd Bradley announced today that Rene Bakx has been appointed Chief Executive, and will commence early in the New Year.
Mr Bradley said “Mr Bakx’s appointment follows a global search and Rene has been appointed on his strength of skills, experience and achievements, following an extensive and rigorous selection process which attracted a very high calibre of candidates."
“The airport is experiencing fantastic growth, and Rene is well positioned with his experience in infrastructure and service development to ensure that the airport’s continued development focuses on service to travellers, and partnerships with business customers and the South Island community.” said Mr Bradley.
A Civil Engineer by profession, Mr Bakx was CEO of Port Otago Limited for a period of 7 years, prior to his recent appointment to the Lyttelton Port Company. During his time at Port Otago Limited, the company achieved significant progress and results creating an environment of unprecedented growth.
Commenting on his appointment, Mr Bakx said he was delighted and looking forward to the exciting opportunities ahead.
