South Island expansion for Dick Smith Electronics
Queenstown store opens tomorrow
Dick Smith Electronics has arrived in Queenstown, bringing the number of the company’s South Island stores to 12.
The new Queenstown store will be officially opened tomorrow (subs Friday), although it has been trading all week.
Dick Smith Electronics New Zealand general manager Stu Meadows said that the store had been well received.
“This store covers a big catchment, and we’re delighted with the response so far,” he said.
The store, in the new Remarkables Park Shopping Centre, stocks the full Dick Smith Electronics store range. The next closest full stores are in Dunedin and Invercargill, and the company has a distribution arrangement with a store in Alexandra.
The opening of the Queenstown store will bring the number of Dick Smith Electronics New Zealand stores to 59. A new store also opened in Warkworth this week, and in the past four months the company has opened new stores in Masterton, Westgate (Waitakere), Napier and Upper Hutt. It has also doubled the size of its Hamilton Dick Smith Electronics PowerHouse store, and will open new stores in Whakatane and at Wellington airport before Christmas.
Opening specials include 20 desktop computers at $697 each, and 50 DVD players at $48 each.
