Santa delivers special letterbox to Newmarket
Auckland children can now post their letters directly to Santa Claus in a special letterbox which was delivered to Newmarket in the middle of night by Santa's helpers.
The Newmarket Business Association was genuinely surprised when the bright red post box magically appeared. Placed at 180 Broadway, outside Route 66, the Santa Post Box is the only one in Auckland City.
"This special Santa post box provides Auckland children with the only opportunity to directly contact Santa. Being the chosen guardian of the box is hugely exciting and a great privilege for Newmarket," said Cameron Brewer of the Newmarket Business Association."
Santa's helpers will clear the Santa post box every evening, then hand deliver the letters to Santa's Workshop located in a secret village in the North Pole. Santa has promised to personally write back to every child.
"We believe Santa has chosen Newmarket because we're the country's leading retail district and it's easy for children to post their letters while their families are here doing their Christmas shopping."
Children are not required to use a stamp, but do need to apply their imaginations and clearly state what they want. As per tradition, Santa's helpers are keen to point out that while children can ask for any present, it is Santa alone who decides what they shall receive on Christmas morning.
The Newmarket Business Association will put every child who participates into a draw to win a $100 voucher redeemable at Toy World on Broadway. Santa's post box will be out every day until the close of business on Christmas Eve - Saturday 24 December.
