Federation Of Family Budgeting Thankful For $50,000 Donation
The New Zealand Federation of Family Budgeting Services thanked Westpac New Zealand for its $50,000 donation today.
“The Federation is very thankful to Westpac for its generosity,” says Raewyn Fox, the Federation’s Chief Executive Officer. “We are very reliant on community support with over 35% of our funding coming from corporate and community donations.”
“The money will be used to support a new initiative to increase our Service’s capacity to collect information.”
“The aim of the project is to find out why some people suffer from debt crises and, more importantly, what can be done to prevent it,” she says.
“The findings will be shared with the relevant government agencies, banks and other lending agencies. We all need to work together to ensure New Zealanders use of credit is more sustainable.”
June McCabe, Westpac’s Director, Corporate Affairs says, “I am very proud of Westpac’s commitment to supporting our communities and helping to make financial advice more accessible. This is just one small way we can make a contribution at this time of year, which we recognise can be difficult for some people”.
This is the second year Westpac has decided to donate its Christmas buying fund to the budgeting service. Last year it donated $30,000.
The Federation of Family Budgeting Services help New Zealand families to better manage their money and meet their financial obligations through free, one-on-one support and community education.
It plays a very important role for families struggling with their finances at this time of the year and has service providers in most towns and cities around the country.
