Last Chance For Farm Managers To Enter Dairy Excellence Awards
Farm Managers wanting to enter the 2005/06 Fonterra Westpac Dairy Excellence Awards have just less than a week to send in their entry forms before the 13 January deadline.
Entries and nominations for the Farm Manager Awards close at the end of this week, giving those interested in entering this category one last chance to benchmark themselves against the best in the industry, develop their skills and be in the running to win the National Farm Manager Award prize - a Mazda Bounty two wheel drive single cab flat deck.
The Farm Business International Travel Scholarships entries close two weeks later on 27 January. The scholarships are open to Farm Business owners (individuals or couples) seeking the opportunity to broaden their horizons. Owners can apply or be nominated for six national scholarships, which will see the winners and their partners partake in an international study tour to South America - a key region of dairy industry growth and significant Fonterra activity.
The Award's Project Manager Barbara Kuriger is urging Fonterra's ambitious and efficient farmers to take pride in their performance and put themselves forward for recognition. She is encouraging those still considering entering or nominating someone for the Awards, to get their forms in.
"We are excited by the amount of interest in this year's competition and the quality of entries. However, those who are still keen to enter need to contact their regional committees to ensure their entries and nominations are formalised," says Barbara.
"Interested Farm Managers should have confidence in their business and their achievements and make sure they don't pass up the opportunity to challenge themselves and compete at a high level.
"Excellent farms are those that make the most of their resources and utilise the skills of everyone involved. Anyone who feels that they have what it takes to excel in the various fields, or has a neighbour or friend worthy of entering, should contact their Regional Committee as soon as possible," she says.
The Fonterra Westpac Dairy Excellence Awards recognise, promote and celebrate excellence in eight categories of dairy farming and dairy farm management. The Awards offer prizes to the six Farm Business International Travel Scholarship winners and to the Farm Manager of the Year Awards. They also seek to recognise contribution to the industry with the Mazda Lifetime Achievement Award.
The awards are supported by Dexcel and sponsored by Mazda, Telecom, Livestock Improvement, Ravensdown Fertiliser, RD1 and DTS.
