Falcon And Territory Lead The Way For Ford In 2005 Auckland, New Zealand,

Ford New Zealand has concluded 2005 in second position overall with Falcon and Territory once again capturing leadership in their respective segments in December.
Three of New Zealand's ten most popular cars in 2005 were Fords - Falcon (4563 units), Territory (2414) and Mondeo (2068) contributing to Ford being the second best selling passenger vehicle marque in 2005.
Increased sales of Courier (from 2372 in 2004 to 2550 in 2005) helped Ford secure second position in the light commercial segment.
"For the second month since we launched the BF Falcon in November, Falcon was the favourite large car (319 units) in New Zealand - the improvements in the performance, refinement and fuel economy in BF Falcon have been recognized by our customers," said Mr. Richard Matheson, Managing Director, Ford New Zealand.
"The award-winning Territory finished its first full year of sales as the most popular SUV in the country, a remarkable achievement - New Zealand drivers just can't get enough of its car-like handling and off-road abilities."
"Another star for Ford in 2005 was Mondeo which finished the year in number two position in the segment - customers appreciate its excellent driving dynamics and stylish looks," said Mr Matheson.
"2005 was an interesting year for the industry - while it was the highest new vehicle industry volume (103,448 units) since 1985, there were significant segment shifts. Ford Fiesta and Focus benefited from the surge in small car sales and Territory led the way with the increase in SUV sales."
