2006 AA Motoring Excellence Awards Announced

2006 AA Motoring Excellence Awards Announced

New Zealand’s most prestigious annual motoring awards - the AA Motoring Excellence Awards will be taking place this year in March at the Auckland Sky City Convention Centre.

Last year the inaugural AA Motoring Excellence Awards attracted over 80 vehicle nominations and this year’s event has proven equally successful with the same high number of nominations received for the various award categories. Entries at this level indicate extremely strong vehicle manufacturer and importer support for the event.

Stella Stocks, General Manager AA Technical Services says the AA Motoring Excellence Awards aim to identify and reward excellence amongst new vehicles and in areas of concern to motorists such as safety and the environment. They also reward excellence in motoring journalism. This year two new categories have been added to the Motoring Excellence Awards, these are the Customer Satisfaction Award and the Executive Vehicle Award.

The 2006 AA Motoring Excellence Award Categories are: Environment, Safety, Motoring Journalism, Luxury Vehicle, Executive Vehicle, Medium / Large Car, Crossover Vehicle, Performance Car, Medium 4 Cylinder Car, Compact Car, Small Car, and Customer Satisfaction.

Vehicles nominated for this year’s event will be put to the test at the Taupo track during the week commencing the 6th of February by a panel of expert judges to determine the winners in various categories.

A special media briefing day will also be held in Taupo on the 9th of February during the track testing section of the judging.

AA Partners for the 2006 AA Motoring Excellence Awards include Vodafone, GE Money, Vero, The National Bank and Castrol.

The AA Motoring Excellence Award winners will be announced at a prestigious black tie dinner at the Auckland Sky City Convention Centre on Friday March 3rd.
