‘Boatshed 172’ in Karaka Bay, Wellington has not only provided its current owners with half a century of fun, it’s also turning out to be “lots of fun” to market for Annette and Richard Bonnett from Harcourts Miramar as they greet some potential buyers disembarking from boats in lifejackets straight into the property.

First built just on fifty years ago by two brothers-in-law in their 20s who are now selling it, the very well presented building with ramp in sheltered Karaka Bay is attracting keen buying interest locally and from throughout Wellington’s Eastern suburbs, as well as overseas, by those who recognise what a rare opportunity it is to be able to purchase such a property.

Mr and Mrs Bonnett, who between them have 25 years in the industry say this is the first time they have marketed such a property which as a standalone boatshed is quite a rarity.

“Since we started marketing Boatshed 172 two weeks ago we have had marvellous interest from the neighbours with Karaka and surrounding bays very sought after places to live.” Mr Bonnett added most boatsheds were sold as part of nearby houses, so the chance to own a standalone boatshed was very unusual, making it even more appealing and accessible.

“In my opinion, this would be one of the best boatsheds at this end of Wellington harbour. The secluded bay and inlet protects it from the Southerly making it very easy to get boats in and out, while providing beautiful views up the harbour.” The dimensions of the shed are around 5.9 x 4.6m, and includes a slipway accessible at all times and tides.

Boatshed 172 will be auctioned on site Saturday 11 February 1pm, followed by the auction of the three dinghies.
