Newest ACP Media title records outstanding circulation results
ACP Media’s newest monthly title Taste has recorded outstanding circulation figures in its first results, reports the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC).
Total circulation for the second-half of 2005 was 22,793, making the publication the launch success story of the ACP Media family for the period.
“We are delighted with Taste’s performance in its first six months,” says Debra Millar, ACP Media’s Group Publisher – Consumer Titles.
“What is particularly exciting is that Taste is tracking very well against other established food publications, growing the market sector, while continuing to maintain the audited sales levels from its strong launch issues.
The magazine, which targets New Zealand’s 1.1 million mainstream foodies, was launched in August 2005, and its points of difference from competitors have proven to be a recipe for success.
“While other titles tend to cater for ‘gourmet’ or ‘instant’ food alone, Taste is less prescriptive. The magazine does offer inspiring solutions for weekday meals, but also provides unique recipes for more leisurely cooking and special occasions,” says Ms Millar.
“Taste caters for a very broad cross section of New Zealanders, from mums and dads cooking for a hungry family, to people preparing a casual weekend meal for friends, or anyone who wants to impress on a special occasion. This mix of fast with fantastic has obviously struck a chord with our target market.”
In addition to its exceptional circulation results, the Taste website and weekly email newsletter have also been heavily subscribed since their launch.
The website attracts 500 loyal users per day, Taste’s weekly e-newsletter has 4,500 subscribers, and the magazine boasts more than 7,000 subscribers.
“The website and weekly e-newsletter are great examples of how magazines are no longer a standalone media. New Zealand’s magazine market is growing and evolving in response to consumers’ needs, and demands on their time and attention. In this environment the best performing publications will be ones like Taste which are flexible and innovative and know how to connect with consumers,” says Ms Millar.
