NZWW increases readership; remains #1

The New Zealand Woman's Weekly has confirmed its position as New Zealand's most read magazine.

Nielsen Research survey figures released today show the Woman's Weekly's readership has increased by 3.8 percent year-on-year to 958,000. This is the largest readership figure of any publication in New Zealand.

CEO/Publisher Rick Neville said with readership closing in on the million mark, the Woman's Weekly was in an unparalleled position to reach, inform and entertain New Zealanders.

"This iconic title, now 74-years young, enjoys wonderful support from its readers, each week touching their lives with celebrity news and gossip, heart-warming stories about real New Zealand women, and creative and entertaining columns and features on food, fashion and lifestyle issues."

Mr Neville said as well as the push towards one million readers, the latest readership survey showed a strong lift of 5.4 percent among women aged 25 to 39.

"This proves the title has moved with the times and appeals to New Zealand women in every age group."

APN's new acquisition, the teen title Creme magazine, showed outstanding growth in the latest survey period with readership increasing 50 percent year-on-year to 117,000. The survey also recorded the magazine's increasing popularity with 31 percent of readers falling in the 15 to 17 age group.

"Our journalists have done an outstanding job of improving Creme which is being reflected in soaring newsstand and subscription sales and fast-growing readership," said Mr Neville.
