announced in Auckland tonight:
The National Bank

Bridgestone New Zealand
Ltd Executive Car Class Award
Vero Insurance New Zealand
Ltd Luxury Car Class Award
Stella Stocks, General
Manager of AA Technical Services, says the AA Motoring
Excellence Awards aim to identify and reward excellence
amongst new vehicles and in areas of concern to motorists.
The Awards are being announced at a prestigious black tie
dinner in Auckland tonight.
The National Bank Medium / Large Car Class Award went to the Hyundai Sonata 3.3 litre V6 Elite A5.
Ms Stocks said Hyundai’s 3.3 litre V6 Elite A5 offers outstanding build quality, no fuss detail and all the value expected of a Korean car.
“The judges called this car a class above in value for money terms. They liked how the Hyundai’s 3.3 litre V6 Elite A5 drove and handled, and appreciated its smooth, responsive ride. A pivotal product for the brand, this is a well thought-out and genuinely classy sedan.”
The Bridgestone New Zealand Ltd Executive Car Class Award went to the Lexus IS250.
Ms Stocks said the Lexus IS250’s quality, sharp style and confident handling threatens to topple established European vehicles from their perch.
“The judges called this a sassy executive sedan that also offers tremendous value for money. The attention to detail displayed, made the Lexus IS250 stand out in the class. It boasts an extensive features list, is beautiful to drive, comfortable and easy to use. This is one of the outstanding vehicles on the New Zealand market, with satisfaction guaranteed.”
The Vero Insurance New Zealand Ltd Luxury Car Class Award went to the Lexus GS430.
Ms Stocks said this Lexus V8 has cutting edge equipment, and offers fabulous finish and sublime comfort in a top-notch luxury sedan.
“The judges said this car offers sleek style and attention to detail that is stand-out in its class. It is beautiful to drive and very comfortable, but it's also heavy on the high-tech equipment as this brand establishes itself as a technology leader.”
The AA will announce the remaining 2006 Motoring Excellence Awards, including the AA Supreme Award for Motoring Excellence, later this evening.
