ASICS Scores Winning Goal Signing Up Netball New Zealand Sponsorship

New Official Apparel & Footwear Supplier to Netball New Zealand and Apparel Supplier to Silver Ferns

AUCKLAND, 07 March 2006 – Global footwear and apparel leader, Asics, has teamed up as the official apparel and footwear supplier to Netball New Zealand.

The official clothing and footwear partnership contract was announced at a function in Auckland today launching the new Silver Ferns team uniform for this month’s Commonwealth Games in Melbourne by Chris Brittain, Managing Director of Brittain Wynyard & Co Ltd and Shelley McMeeken, Chief Executive of Netball New Zealand.

The three year agreement provides provides for Brittain Wynyard, the exclusive New Zealand distributor for Asics, to supply match and training gear to the Silver Ferns as well as apparel and footwear to Netball New Zealand. This extends to New Zealand A, NZ Under 21, NZ Secondary Schools, NZ Umpire squads and all eight National Bank Cup franchise teams.

Established in 1949 Asics Corporation has long been regarded as the pre-eminent footwear of choice by serious athletes worldwide and in New Zealand it has become a major force in women’s fitness/training apparel. This is the largest foray by Asics into a major sporting sponsorship in New Zealand following its involvement as the official apparel supplier to the world champion Black Sox.
