Gamers rushing to
be first to get Xbox 360
New Zealand gamers keen to be
first to get their hands on Xbox 360 – the new generation of
electronic gaming that was an instant sell-out in the United
States – are heading to Hamilton tomorrow (Weds, March
22).
The giant Dick Smith Electronics PowerHouse store in Hamilton is hosting a night of Xbox gaming leading up to the new Xbox 360 hitting the shelves just after midnight (Thursday morning).
Store manager Murray Goldsworthy said that pre-orders were pouring in.
“It’s overwhelming,” he said.
“As well as having fantastic graphics and advanced, dramatic gaming, Xbox 360 is a full entertainment system, allowing you to amplify music, photos, video and television, and to stream digital media on to your MP3 player, digital camera and personal computer.”
Xbox 360 sold out within hours of going on sale in the United States last November, with some packages being resold on the internet for up to $US2500.
Dick Smith Electronics and Dick Smith Electronics PowerHouse will retail Xbox 360 for $718. The package includes a console, 20GB hard drive, wireless controller, faceplate, media remote, GVA HD AV cable and Xbox Live silver membership. Dick Smith Electronics guarantees to have New Zealand’s lowest prices on Xbox 360 games.
Xbox 360 is manufactured by Microsoft.
