New Zealanders are
Buying and Selling online for free!
Sellmefree publishes
500,000 free ads
Sellmefree.co.nz, launched barely six months ago, has published half a million free private seller ads online.
Sellmefree.co.nz, New Zealand’s closest version of the mighty free classified site craigslist.org from the USA, has in six months, demonstrated that kiwi’s are again rapidly following international internet trends.
The 500,000th ad was an official framed photograph of the British Lions football team of the 1971 NZ tour signed by the team, which sold for $50!
The proposition for sellers wanting to sell for free at a fixed price and for buyers to be able to buy right now rather than wait for an auction to close is clearly gaining ground. Sellmefree.co.nz has over 280,000 members who have placed a free ad.
Sellmefree.co.nz is published by Trader Group, a division of ACP Media. Lee Williams Group General Manager celebrated by saying :
‘for the public the internet was primarily created for freedom and sharing of information. Free buying and selling takes this philosophy by the horns. We’re really excited that a massive half a million ads were posted for free rather than placed in newspapers or auction websites where the seller pays.’
Williams continues ‘with free classified sites such as craigslist and googlebase taking the internet by storm worldwide over recent months, sellmefree.co.nz’s future looks bright. Feedback to our free proposition verses other major players in the market has been fantastic. It looks as if people are seriously questioning paying out to sell through auction commissions.
The model is based on our ‘old world’ free ad papers such as Buy Sell Exchange and Loot which have always had the proposition of ‘free’ to sell for the public. We aim to take this proposition to new levels over the coming months.’
Sellmefree.co.nz’s revenue streams come from businesses which can advertise large amounts of stock from as little as $20 per week and online advertising. These revenue streams enable sellmefree.co.nz to offer the ‘always have been always will be free forever’ proposition to the public.
Buyers can place items for sale for free by web, phone and txt. Sellers can search and browse listings, receive email alerts, send ads to friends and to mobiles.
