Hyundai Confirmed as Sports Tonight Sponsor

The rise of Hyundai as a leading vehicle brand in New Zealand is reflected by the company's new role as naming rights sponsor for the popular TV3 sports show, Sports Tonight.

>From April 1, the show will be named Hyundai Sports Tonight, screening at the usual time after TV3's late-night news show, Nightline.

Presented by award-winning sports journalist, Howard Dobson, and produced by Curt Jones, formerly of ESPN, Hyundai Sports Tonight is a fast-paced series, which covers every type of sport imaginable - and then some. The series continues to be a ratings success story, consistently winning its timeslot in key demographics.

"This sponsorship is another step into the New Zealand consciousness for Hyundai," says Philip Eustace, Managing Director of Hyundai Automotive New Zealand.

"It is a natural step on from our involvement with Sports Café and reflects the growing maturity of Hyundai in New Zealand."

Colin Caldwell, 3's Director of Sales comments:

"We're very excited to have developed this new partnership with Hyundai, who have a strong history of sporting sponsorships in this country, including soccer, mountain biking, surfing, cricket and boardsailing. This agreement represents a new phase in the development of Sports Tonight."

Hyundai is now established as the fastest-developing major car brand, recently introducing respected new models such as Getz, Sonata and Grandeur passenger cars plus the Tucson SUV.
