NZ Post Group, DHL Provide Solution to Air NZ

Media Release 3 April 2006

New Zealand Post Group and DHL Express Provide Combined Solution to Air New Zealand

New Zealand Post and DHL Express today signed a three-year deal with Air New Zealand to provide all domestic and international postal and courier services for the Air New Zealand group.

The selection of New Zealand Post and DHL Express as the prime vendors follows a competitive request for proposal process during 2005. This is the first joint solution between New Zealand Post and DHL Express since the formation of the Express Couriers Limited joint venture last year.

New Zealand Post Chief Operating Officer Paul Hutchinson said the deal represented good value for all parties concerned and provided real opportunities for future growth.

“The New Zealand Post Group has worked very closely with Air New Zealand to fully understand their needs. By bringing to the party our relationship with DHL we are providing a more end-to-end solution which will not only increase the service offering to Air New Zealand, but also achieve cost efficiencies for their business.

“While the initial deal is worth approximately NZ$4 million, both parties will continue to explore other opportunities to add further business improvements over time through added efficiencies and innovation.”

Air New Zealand General Manager Group Procurement, Andrea Gregory said that the New Zealand Post and DHL solution provided a total package for the company’s domestic and international postal and express freight services.

“While the cost savings resulting from this deal are pleasing, we believe that the relationship will create other opportunities going forward that support our business goals.”

DHL Express New Zealand General Manager, Derek Andersen, said that DHL is excited by the opportunities that the deal provides.

“While DHL Express has provided services to a number of business units within Air New Zealand for some time, as part of our new agreement we will now deliver these services right across their entire business.”

The new deal takes effect from 3 April 2006.
