CA appoints Area Manager and Managing Director CA Pacific and Country Manager CA New Zealand
Wellington, New Zealand, 5 April 2006: CA, one of the world’s largest information technology (IT) management software companies, has promoted Tony Armfield from Country Manager of CA’s New Zealand subsidiary to Area Manager and Managing Director of CA Pacific based in Sydney.
Stuart Preston has been promoted to Country Manager of CA New Zealand based in Wellington. Previously Stuart held the role of Sales Executive.
During Tony Armfield’s three years at the helm of CA New Zealand he steered the business into profitability and grew business through channel partners from less than 15 per cent of sales to more than 50 per cent.
“The New Zealand business has developed a mature go to market strategy via the channel,” says Tony. “This fits with the global strategy for CA to conduct more of its business through channel partners.”
CA employs nearly 600 people in Australia in sales, marketing, finance, administration, technical support and research and development (R&D). CA is the largest R&D investor in the information and communication technology industry in Victoria, employing more than 150 people in Melbourne with a focus on security issues, including anti-virus and identity and access management.
Before joining CA, Tony spent three years in the United Kingdom, most recently as Divisional Manager with enterprise software company NSB Retail Solutions. His IT industry experience includes senior sales and management roles with SAP, Oracle and IBM.
As CA New Zealand Country Manager Stuart Preston will head a team of 25 staff plus contractors focused on managing and securing customers’ IT systems.
His goal is to build on the successes of the New Zealand business over the last three years, including improved customer satisfaction and profitability. “I’m also keen to continue developing our close working relationships with channel partners such as Axon, SolNet and DataStor, and outsourcing partners including Datacom, Eagle, Fujitsu and Gen-i.”
Stuart joined CA in July 2002 as a Sales Executive in Wellington and has focused on growing business in the Wellington market working with both private and public sector organisations.
Before joining CA he worked for 15 years in sales and marketing roles for information technology companies including IBM, Sequent Computer Systems (which was acquired by IBM) and NCR.
