Stuff.co.nz and Trade Me bring double success for Fairfax
Stuff and Trade Me win prizes at technology publication awards

Fairfax Media has dominated the People's Choice NetGuide Web Awards with four award wins.

Stuff.co.nz won the top prize in the highly competitive award category of ‘Best Media Site’ and was a finalist in a further three categories; ‘Best High-speed Internet Site’, ‘Best Entertainment Site’ and ‘Best Home Page’.

Success was also claimed by Trade Me which won all three of its nominated categories. These included; ‘Best Trading Site’, ‘Best Online Shopping Site’ and overall prize win in the ‘Site of the Year’ category (for the second consecutive year).

Joan Withers, Fairfax Media Chief Executive says, “Fairfax is delighted to have won a quarter of the categories in the NetGuide Web Awards. It demonstrates the strength of Fairfax Interactive, the online division of Fairfax Media. We believe the online space is critical for media organisations, and with Stuff and Trade Me we clearly have the two pivotal players in the New Zealand market.”

“Stuff’s track record of success in the online media category is outstanding, having won Best News Site at the NetGuide Web Awards for four consecutive years and Best Media Site at the Qantas Media Awards in 2005, it has blitzed the opposition.”

Another Fairfax stable, Cuisine.co.nz, was also a finalist in the ‘Best Lifestyle Site’ category in this year’s NetGuide Web Awards.

Fairfax Interactive publishes the “Stuff family”of websites, inclusive of Stuff.co.nz, Jobstuff.co.nz, Propertystuff.co.nz, Adstuff.co.nz, Cuisine.co.nz, Personalstuff.co.nz, Fairfaxnz.co.nz and Archivestuff.co.nz.

Nigel Horrocks, Editor of NetGuide magazine, says “Trade Me’s dominance in the trading and online shopping categories was inescapable. The Site of the Year award further recognises that this website has become something of a cultural icon – ‘Trade Me’ is part of the Kiwi vernacular”.
