Four appointments to New Zealand council of CPA

CPA Australia has made four new appointments to its New Zealand branch council.

Dr Ralph Kober of Auckland University, Mark Griffioen of Timaru District Council, Esther Samuel of business consultants Strategic Outcomes and Chye Heng of professional services consultancy, Beca, were appointed to the accountancy body’s council committee in April.

CPA Australia’s New Zealand branch serves a vital role, addressing the professional
needs of a growing number of local members, their clients and the wider community. Six universities in New Zealand now have their commerce and accountancy qualification accredited by CPA Australia, offering enhanced international opportunities to students and a likely growth in the membership of the New Zealand branch.

Positions on the council committee are voluntary, and meetings take place regularly to
liaise with management regarding local issues and to host a number of professional development courses and networking events throughout the year.

CPA Australia is one of the world’s largest accounting and finance professional organisations and runs the southern hemisphere’s largest extra mural learning programme. Members involved in career development programmes can sit exams in 240 locations worldwide. More than 86,000 members are registered users of its web services, including tailor made e-mail news and membership bulletin services.
